My first semester will soon be over

My first semester will soon be over.

I enjoy my lecture at the Faculty of Business Science and Management at the @Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen and hopefully it will also be a benefit for the students. And I really appreciate the contacts that are being made with the hidden champions of the region.

How did it come about –

“Bernd, could you imagine giving a lecture in the field of business ethics and sustainability?”

I was at @Thomas Amann’s CAS Alumni Seminar at Staufenberg Castle near Stuttgart and was currently working on topics such as M&A accounting, impairment or capital classification according to IAS 32. So this question from a seminar participant at lunch was quite unexpected.

With 30 years of leadership experience in the chemical industry and my current volunteer role in the sustainability dialogue with the group spokespersons of the Voluntary Ecological Year, I thought I should have enough background for this.

“Yes, I could imagine that if you tell me what such a lecture basically entails.”

A few weeks earlier, I had posted content on LinkedIn about my workshop as part of the Beuron Days for Questions of Business Ethics (https://lnkd.in/eXhaB2iE). And it had obviously been read by one or the other seminar participant. Of course, I also do it this way, to find out what the other participants are doing.

And just a few days later, after talking to the responsible dean, @Wiebke Heidig, I decided to take on this task.

The contact with Thomas, the CEO and owner of an auditing firm and head of the seminar, also came about through a post on LinkedIn. Thomas had read (https://lnkd.in/eh-ysaJT) a post in my column #FussballMeetsBusiness and contacted me about it. Or rather, re-established contact. As a soccer player, he had played in a team of which I was a coach and remembered me. That was almost 40 years ago.

Since then, we have been in good contact again and the seminar was a personal reunion.

➡ Synchronicity of events. The unexpected often comes, or how is it for you?
