Missed Call

A client had tried to reach me spontaneously. But I was still on my morning walk. She didn’t answer my call back half an hour later.

The next day the dissolution. She had a surprising conversation with her supervisor and wanted to coordinate with me beforehand.

“It’s not bad that I didn’t reach you,” she explained to me on the phone. “I knew what you were going to tell me anyway. And I behaved accordingly. The conversation with my boss went very well.”

How wonderful that is. In the meantime, my client had internalized my advice to such an extent that she acted confidently at that moment even without my immediate input. She saw my impulses and principles as an integral part of her own decision-making process.

The result is an indication that our cooperation not only brings about short-term improvements, but also strengthens self-efficacy and professional appearance in the long term.

The fact that she comes to her own judgement even without a spontaneous alignment speaks for a high degree of trust, I believe. It shows that she perceives herself as a competent and autonomous designer of her professional challenges.

I appreciate this feedback very much and see it as proof that my consulting approach has a lasting effect.

➡️ And what about you? Feedback on consulting projects: the rule or the exception?
