Encounters for sustainability,
>> “How do we get more age diversity into the decision-making process for sustainability? And I mean the participation process of the young generation.” <<
I asked this question on June 21, 2023 to the participants of the panel, who answered questions at the second annual conference of the “Initiative nachhaltig Wirtschaften” in Hesse.
And in my post the day after (https://lnkd.in/eS4vxGmv) I had discussed some suggestions and asked for more ideas. Anke Trischler had then spoken out in a comment. Short and sweet and with a contact offer.
We’ve known each other ever since – virtually. And we exchanged ideas regularly – also virtually via e-mail, Zoom or MS Teams. I took a lot away from these exchanges:
* Not only content for my lecture “Business Ethics and Sustainability” at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University, but also the concept for the structure for it.
* Contacts for our format of a cross-generational dialogue process, which we carry out as part of Leadership Rhein-Main Netzwerk auf Augenhöhe gUG (Laurin Strößenreuther). Together with young adults of the Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ for short).
* And very important: inspiring ideas for the future on how we can advance awareness of the topic of sustainability in the different realities of life within society.
Now in August, we finally met in person. And of course we thought further into the future. Together, we are interested in formats that enable exchange across generations not only as a single event, but also make it a routine process.
>> Because young voices are still not heard enough when it comes to sustainability. Or how do you see that?

“Uncertainty, not-knowing, complexity and requirements are above all opportunities to develop sustainable solutions and implement them pragmatically,” says Anke Trischler, who accompanies SMEs in their transformation to sustainability.
I am Bernd Scharbert and I support leaders not only on the topic of sustainability, but also on diversity and inclusion, on aspects of intercultural leadership and on sustainably effective work in general.
