A Bestseller — Cultural Diversity as a vital Resource in Organisations

The book launch is behind me, yet the appreciative conversation from the virtual launch party still resonates. And the impact is visible right away: on the online platform of a major retail company, a red notice appears: “Only 4 left in stock. More on the way.”

I’m amazed. And in the category “Diversity and Inclusion in Organizations,” my book currently ranks number 4 on the bestseller list.

International teams are the norm today. Prepare for Landing shows how leaders can harness this dynamic through four guiding principles that turn cultural differences from a challenge into a strategic advantage.

The four guiding principles

1 – Language shapes belonging. Clarity instead of complexity, explaining idioms rather than assuming shared knowledge, and creating meeting structures that include everyone linguistically. Language becomes a tool for inclusion.

2 – Also Children’s books reveal how a society sees itself. They show which values are emphasized and which role models dominate. Leaders who understand these cultural patterns gain deeper insight into differing expectations of leadership within their teams.

3 – Diversity becomes productive when teams share orientation. This principle shows how teams can develop a cultural rulebook that creates psychological safety without flattening differences.

4 – Real relationships grow across cultural boundaries. Through active listening, curiosity instead of judgment, and the sharing of personal stories.

The book offers concrete actions rather than abstract models. It blends storytelling with immediately applicable tools. It makes cultural differences strategically useful.

That’s why Prepare for Landing belongs in the field of diversity and inclusion: it closes the gap between insight and implementation.

And now I’m curious: Which of the four guiding principles would you tackle first — and what would be a meaningful first step for you?

My thanks go to all participants of our book launch party for their thoughtful and important contributions. Thanks also to Barbara Budrich and Cathrin Mund from Budrich Inspirited for their warm moderation and excellent organization.
